While I really enjoyed your analysis of the direction and composition of the masturbation scene, and how Asuka is portrayed as explicitly non-sexual, the scene in my mind portrays not how Shinji first adopts the male-gaze and is later disgusted with himself for doing so, but instead, the takeaway is his need for comforting and nurturing and how this (very Freudianly) carries over into a sexual desire. This theme is already present in Kaji and Misatos relationship (where partly Misato needs a man much like her father to comfort her for her loss) and Shinji has also recently lost his comforting, ambiguesly sexual figure in Kaworu. The I'm so fucked up line could then be understood to be his disgust at himself for stooping so low to achieve some form of physical comforting as to take advantage of his unconscious friend. This relates to his poor understanding of his own sexuality in general. In my mind, this is confirmed in episode 26 of EoE (I cite from evageeks):
