I was 1st grade teacher that had to retire early because they didn’t like the “old school” way I did things- ie; teaching kids to think for themselves, problem solve and take on natural consequences. It was all about teaching them to learn to love to learn. They also didn’t want the opposition from me when they told me not to continue (yes they told me to stop all this) the patriotism in my room by singing the national anthem every morning, studying AMERICAN history throughout the year and having the most parent volunteers in my room than any other class in the school. I had an open door policy and had created programs with rotating daily volunteers that involved up to 10 parents a day working with students for daily reading and writing (I have a doctorate in literacy and was a literacy specialist but chose to stay in the regular classroom). I was the most requested teacher at the school for over 23 years and they pushed to get me out- even though I won teaching awards due to parents the administration made my life so miserable in so many ways I finally called it quits why? I didn’t fit their “new” liberal agenda and didn’t do it “their” way! This happens all the time to good teachers that have invested their entire lives towards our nation’s future. Extremely sad for the students, the excellent teachers and the future- it’s wrong on so many levels- Someone needs to do something about this instead of just talking about it and assuming all teachers are performing poorly - before all our children (our future) are completely brainwashed/ indoctrinated and can’t think for themselves - the repercussions could be the end of America as we know it.
