This scene gets to me. I work for an airline and there was a pilot who wanted to take the whole crew out during a long overnight. He seemed like a nice married guy but he kept trying to get me to take shots instead of letting me just sip on my wine. My crew were all older women and I was in my mid 20s. He bought everyone’s dinner and drinks. I was the only one out of 6 that went to an ATM and gave him cash for my portion because something didn’t feel quite right. He insisted we all go to a bar afterwards and kept trying to get me to do shots. I finally pretended to do one and I think he thought I would be buzzed enough to start messing with me. As I was walking in front of him on our way back to the hotel, he lifted my dress up and swatted my butt in front of everyone. I turned around and tried to play it off because everyone laughed and I didn’t want to be the party pooper. I told him “Don’t do that again or else I will have to smack you back.” Sure enough, 5 mins later him came up from behind me in front of everyone again and lifted my dress all the way up and groped my chest and butt. As a reflex, I turned around and slapped him hard in the face. He started pouting and my entire crew turned on me. They claimed to have not seen or heard a thing other than me just randomly hitting the innocent pilot who had just shown them all a good time and paid for everything. He leaned into me a few minutes later and very quietly said into my ear “I like your red panties. Too bad you ruined the night for everyone.” I’m not sure why but I started to tear up at that and asked my crew to help me report him. They all denied me and told me I was drunk and making everything up. I had to work with that entire crew on a 7hr flight home and no one would speak to me the rest of the trip. In fact, I caught them all gossiping about me being a drama queen and how I should feel lucky that men think I’m attractive enough to hit on me. I felt so betrayed and so sick to my stomach. Being a bystander and doing nothing while someone is being assaulted almost hurts the victim more than the actual assailant does.
