The disinformation is the saddest part. I understand the DoD's need for OpSec. But after it failed, the only need for secrecy is to protect the rear ends of of politicians and bureaucrats. People shouldn't have to wait 30 and 40 years to know how their loved ones met their fate. His mother never recovered from the 'not knowing' how and where. Seems insignificant to many, but to a mother trying to process the death of her son, it was everything.

I used to live between shady cove and tiller Oregon. We had 40 acres that backed up to the umpqua nation forest. I was 15 at the time and was exploring our property line up to the forest boundaries. Well I elected to cross into the national forest and just go Che k it out a bit. I noticed immediately when I had crossed a creek and entered dense woods that there was moss on the ground about a foot thick. It felt like walking on marshmallows I guess. Then I realized how very very quiet it was. I mean I heard nothing at all but my heart and the creek that was 40ft now behind me. I had my mini 14 .223 rifle and a colt python .357 so I was well armed and pretty much unworried about anything I may encounter. I proceeded to hike thru this forest until I came upon a old 2 story structure that was missing the roof and basically completely falling apart. I circled around it looking for whatever I could find. Well I come around the side of the structure and right in front of me is a stack of thunder eggs. Geodes is the scientific term. But they were stacked in a pyramid kinda shaped pile. I grabbed one. As soon as I did I heard the most gut wrenching scream I’ve ever heard. It echoed through the valley I was in it was that loud. And the scream was deep and lasted at least 10 seconds. I already had chambered a round in my rifle so I flipped off the safety and carefully retraced my steps and crossed back over that creek into our property. I went home told my family what happened. My mother then told me “ I guess the previous owner wasn’t lying”. I asked her what she meant. She then told me this property was put up for sale after an altercation with “ a huge hairy beast”. We got silent and just looked at each other. This same property supposedly a ufo landed and the grass inside the 30’ circle wouldn’t ever grow and when it snowed the circle got very little snow maybe inches while outside of it there would be feet. It was a crazy piece of land and I had a great time exploring. But I never entered that part of those woods again. True shit I swear it on my life.
