I grew up on this show and watching that movie was the most bittersweet event of my life. I had just turned 14 a month and sixteen days prior. It was my last year of middle school- which I had just started that August- and my last school year in the trailer I grew up in, it would be torn down and a new house built on its foundation just before the next summer. My favorite childhood show ending was what kicked in the realization that my childhood itself was comings to a close. Watching the Eds finally be accepted by the other kids- well, minus Johnny and Plank- and playing a game with them in the streets as the screen faded to black, it just hit me right in the gut. Yeah, I could watch reruns and yeah they were just as funny the 50th time I saw them as they were the first time. But knowing that it was over, that it was just a rerun and there would probably never be another new episode to this show I loved wi5h all my heart… it just hit differently than watching a rerun episode while waiting for the new one to come out. I loved this show so much. I loved each character for one reason or another. I miss the show but I also feel so lucky to have been able to grow up with it. To watch how the characters grew and changed in real time, rather than finding the DVD set and watching while thinking “oh, another obscure early 2000’s cartoon with jokes that I don’t even get.” (That’s how I feel about some Loony Tunes and Tom & Jerry episodes lol)
