Girls do not like it when you make all the plans. They don't like it if you're the target of other girls (all the girls think I'm groovy), and they certainly do not like it if you're in control my dear. We love a gentleman, who consider us and asks us for our opinion, a guy who cares about us, and shows it. Now of course, some people are scared, or insecure, and they're afraid to show how much they care because they don't want the other person to leave, and I totally understand that. But saying that we actually want guys to ignore us, so we can try and prove that we are worthy of their attention, is wrong on so many levels. I love pie and I admire people who cook well, but you surely do not have to cook if you don't want too. You are not what society decides you are. You are what you want to be and how you want to be treated. And even if it's a little step towards it, I love that this movie tried to deliver those messages. And it's not only in the song. Mac isn't your average girly girl, even the way she dresses (I keep it loose) isn't. Lila is extremely smart, and gets more independent as the movie progresses (and even more in the second one). Brady isn't a matcho. He's this really good guy who wants the girl he loves to stay with him, and he doesn't ask for anything else. It's great that kids have this sort of content as entertainment, it is, at least, a good introduction. It kind of teaches them respect, actually.
