Secondly, I get that this is a difficult issue to solve. I'm not suggesting that people should lose their freedom of speech (especially since we are all already beginning to) or that mentally ill people should be removed from YouTube (wtf?!!!) but I do believe that YouTube has as much a responsibility to their creators as they do to their viewers. If their platform is enabling someone to further their own mental/physical health disorder, do they not have a moral obligation to protect that creator and make sure that it can't be used in this way? They make a big song and dance about what is and isn't acceptable on the platform, but when it comes down to it, it's not working to protect people in reality. (Plus, they are already controlling much of what people can say and do on their platform, according to various agenda's, so it wouldn't exactly be a stretch for them to put trigger warnings or links to places people could get help on videos very clearly demonstrating certain behaviours.) And where do we draw the line when it comes to how far a person can damage themselves (in all ways, not just through an ED) and still be able to make a profit from it for both themselves and the platform?
