1. Paying for a service

I used to lease student apartments at UT Austin and we had Chinese exchange students come for the summer. Every single one of their apartments had a scale in the kitchen (to weigh themselves) and a small food scale on the counter where they weighed out rice, etc. this was 10 years ago. The ability to be thin and controls one weight in their culture shows the ability to use self control, and other amiable traits in their culture. I’ve met so many Asian women who face extreme scrutiny about their weight. In American culture body standards ebb and flow but being thin has always been “in” just masked when we add things like BBL’s and implants. Ultimately the standard in most first world countries is to stay thin because food is plentiful. Whereas third world countries where food is scarce the body standards seem to be much more lax or based off of looking healthy and muscular. I grew up with 90’s Kate moss “heroin chic” weight being in. I developed an ED as did a lot of my peers and I am curious to see where culture leads as Gen Z seems to be more accepting of their bodies (not everyone but a decent amount compared to young millennials). Sadly women will always be held to a more rigid standard then men, as dad bods come into fashion and a man can look like a body builder or have a dad bod or extra meat on his bones and still be considered attractive. we see this in Hollywood and in our everyday lives. As someone who lost her health due to an ED and being hospitalized due to one, it’s not worth the Long term damage to your body. But having an ED isn’t about weight, it’s ultimately about being able to control something in your life wether it is your food or your weight.

Chicago has one of the worlds greatest skylines. Not overly dense but several clear vantage points where one is awe-struck by the powerful structures. Returning from a trip on the East Coast, OHare was stacked so the pilot stated he would sit over downtown Chicago for several minutes till he received clearance to land. The pilot circled over the lake in near silence 7/8 times providing an incredible view of the city one would pay $500 to experience in a helicopter. From an engineering perspective, Chicago deserves the title 'The City That Works!'.
