Though I think the most interesting variant of the ship, but not really idea is when it's shown as a one-sided crush on the part of a teenage Dib with Zim being utterly disgusted and even Dib wondering what the fuck is wrong with himself for thinking that (safe to say, he's ashamed of it and DEFINITELY would not go out and sexually harass Zim). I don't know, I just feel that on top of having a lot of comedy potential, especially when combined with the light teasing angle, it could lead to a really interesting internal conflict for Dib. It helps that while an adult crushing on a minor is a huge no-no, a minor having a one-sided crush on an adult is actually pretty normal and not an issue (again, so long as the adult doesn't reciprocate). Issues of consent can also be avoided since they never actually do anything. It honestly plays the characters the absolute closest to canon as well. There'd still probably be issues with Dib's stalker tendencies, but given A) They're never actually in a relationship and they remain at least somewhat rivals, B) it's near impossible to ignore when sticking so close to the characters' canon personalities and C) the situation allows Dib's obsessiveness to be rightfully called out and made fun of, it's not normalized or treated as part of a healthy relationship. I don't think I've seen anyone explore that angle to its full extent. Honestly, even as someone who doesn't really ship ZADR... like at all, I'd low-key be willing to write that fic as a mostly comedic deconstruction of the relationship.
