I think this is more psychologically complex than her kid being sexually active, or her husband having an affair. Ask yourself : Why was she seeing a therapist to begin with? It's implied that she needs it for a reason, and the husband asks if it's helping. This indicates a problem, likely a trauma, considering her behaviors. Why was the security system installed? Did something happen to make them/her feel unsafe? This is very likely. Most people install security systems after the fact, or after someone they know had something happen. Why is keeping the condom so important? subconsciously, this could be a need to preserve evidence. To be honest, I'm surprised more people haven't read between the lines with this one.
